Airbus Asia Training Centre Expands Capabilities with ALSIM Simulator

AIRBUS ASIA TRAINING CENTRE EXPANDS CAPABILITIES WITH ALSIM SIMULATOR

WHAT HAPPENED

Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), a joint venture between Airbus and Singapore Airlines, has acquired an advanced ALSIM Airliner simulator for the Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) cadet training programme at the Singapore Flying College. The simulator will be fully operational by early 2027 and will comply with ICAO 9625 Type IV standards.

WHY IT MATTERS

The simulator's key capability is its ability to switch between fly-by-wire and conventional flight control systems, allowing cadets to train on different aircraft architectures within a single training platform. This upgrade aligns AATC's training infrastructure with global aviation standards and better prepares pilots entering the region's commercial fleets. The addition strengthens AATC's competitive position in Southeast Asia's competitive training market.

WHO BENEFITS

Singapore Flying College cadets pursuing the MPL programme will gain direct access to state-of-the-art simulation technology previously unavailable in their training curriculum. AATC itself benefits by enhancing its training portfolio and reinforcing its standing as a regional training leader. Airlines operating in Southeast Asia also gain access to better-prepared pilots entering the workforce.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The simulator will undergo regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to confirm it meets all necessary standards before integration into the training programmes. Full operational status is expected in early 2027. The announcement was made at the Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit (APATS) 2026 in Bangkok.
